TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Malaysia said Thursday (May 16) it will open its automated gates for immigration clearance to Taiwanese tourists starting next month.
Malaysia's Minister of Home Affairs, Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said that starting from June 1, travelers from an additional 36 low-risk countries/regions will be able to use the autogate system, expediting the immigration clearance process, reported the New Straits Times.
This includes travelers from all European Union member states, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Jordan, Oman, Qatar, and Canada.
In December, the Malaysian Immigration Department announced that travelers from 10 countries could utilize the autogate system at Kuala Lumpur International Airport's Terminal 1 and 2. The 10 countries eligible last year included Australia, Brunei, Germany, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the U.S., and U.K.
On Thursday, Saifuddin announced the inclusion of an 36 additional low-risk countries and regions whose travelers can utilize the autogate facilities to immigration, bringing the total to 46 countries whose travelers are eligible for the automated clearance system.
