TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan will show off its achievements in healthcare and health insurance at an exhibition in Geneva to coincide with the World Health Assembly (WHA), activists said Wednesday (May 15).
As in recent years, Taiwan has not received an invitation to attend the annual World Health Organization (WHO) event, which this year will take place from May 27 to June 1. However, Taiwan has been sending delegations to discuss health issues with individual WHA participants on the sidelines of the conference.
This year, the Taiwan group will leave for Switzerland on May 23. An exhibition themed the “World We Share” will take place May 25-28 at a railway station in Geneva, Radio Taiwan International (RTI) reported.
The expo will present a combination touring the nation’s technological achievements, positive results from the combination of modern and traditional medicine, and long-distance care for seniors. A petition calling on the WHO to respect its own aim of equal health rights for all will be presented to WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on May 26 on the occasion of the Walk the Talk physical activity event.
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) lawmaker Huang Hsiou-fang (黃秀芳) called on the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help health professionals and students take part in international non-governmental organizations.
