TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Chen Szu-yu (陳思羽) and Lin Yun-ju (林昀儒) will represent Taiwan at the Paris Olympics after International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) ranked them No.5 on the world mixed doubles list Tuesday (May 7).
The duo will participate with a full slate of table tennis contenders, CNA reported. Men and women players already qualified for Paris at the World Team Table Tennis Championships in Busan, South Korea last February.
At the Tokyo Olympics, Lin and Cheng I-ching (鄭怡靜) were the only Taiwanese to win a medal for table tennis, a bronze in the mixed doubles. For Lin, Paris will see his second attempt at obtaining a medal.
The rankings for individual players and men’s and women’s doubles will be announced in June. Team coach Wu Wen-chia (吳文嘉) hoped Lin and Chen could improve their position to boost their seeding in Paris.
