TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) issued a special heavy rain warning for southern Taiwan on Sunday (May 5), with heavy downpour expected from the evening though Monday morning.
The advisory was issued for Taitung County and mountainous regions of Kaohsiung and Pingtung. People in these areas should avoid driving on mountain roads and be aware of the potential for thunderstorms, per the CWA.
The CWA issued additional high temperature warnings for Kaohsiung and Pingtung County for Monday (May 6). With temperatures expected to reach the mid-30s, people in these areas are asked to avoid excess labor outdoors, and to try and remain cool and hydrated throughout the day.
As for the rest of Taiwan, temperatures are expected to hover around the mid-to upper 20s throughout the first half of the week. Scattered showers are expected in the northeast and along the east coast from Monday to Wednesday (May 8).
On Thursday and Friday (May 9-10), average temperatures will be in the mid-20s with sunny skies across most of the country, according to the CWA.
