TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Generally warm weather all over Taiwan could lead to thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon (May 4).
Temperatures are as high as 33 C in the south, with a possible 34 C mark predicted for the afternoon. A weakening northeast monsoon and the heat will likely cause rain over many parts of the country.
Central Weather Administration forecaster Liu Pei-teng (劉沛滕) told Next Apple News that temperatures in the east will be about 27 to 29 C, with the mercury hovering around 30 to 32 C in the west. Liu warned of possible shower bursts nationwide in the afternoon, especially in mountain areas.
A new weather front from the Taiwan Strait will see changes from Sunday (May 5). Liu said this could mean brief showers or thunderstorms in the west, though this pattern could be repeated elsewhere.
Relatively high daytime temperatures, particularly in the north, are expected to drop as we head into the midweek.
