TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Rehearsals by the Air Force will disrupt air traffic at Taipei Songshan Airport during the run-up to the presidential inauguration, the Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) said Friday (May 3).
President-elect Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and Vice President-elect Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) will be sworn in on May 20 in Taipei, with a banquet to follow in Tainan City. As the ceremony will also feature airplanes flying overhead, travelers using Songshan Airport during the week leading up to the inauguration should look out for schedule changes, per the Liberty Times.
The report mentioned the mornings of May 13, 15, and 17, and the afternoon of May 19, as well as May 20 itself. Representatives of the airlines and of the military reportedly sat down for talks on May 1.
The basic principle was that no commercial flights would be canceled, but only rescheduled to earlier times or delayed. The aviation authorities had asked airlines to prepare and to inform passengers who had already booked tickets for the dates about the changes.
