TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A bus at Taoyuan International Airport took passengers flying to Tokyo and Osaka to the same Tigerair Taiwan flight by mistake, reports said Wednesday (April 24).
The incident occurred on Tuesday (April 23), when passengers for flight IT202 to Narita and flight IT212 to Kansai International Airport were waiting for a bus to take them from the terminal to their flights.
The driver of a bus operated by Taoyuan International Airport Services Co. Ltd. (TIAS) failed to check the destination of the passengers and took all of them to the same aircraft, the Liberty Times reported. The mix-up caused confusion and delays, with airline staff having to check the passengers’ travel documents once more before the bus could take them to the right plane.
TIAS apologized for the incident, saying the bus driver had been removed from his present function and would receive a disciplinary sanction as well as being booked into a retraining course.
The error occurred as he was transporting passengers for two flights from the same airline with similar flight numbers scheduled for about the same time, TIAS said. The recent increase in the number of flights at Taoyuan had caused extra work for ground staff, the company said, apologizing to travelers and to Tigerair Taiwan.
