TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Firms from Taiwan will exhibit their products at a defense expo in Vietnam next December, reports said Saturday (April 20).
According to the Vietnamese website VN Express, 40 companies from 19 countries had registered to participate in the Dec. 19-22 show. The event will take place at the Gia Lam Airport in the capital Hanoi.
The list of countries also included the United States, Russia, India, Israel, France, Japan, and South Korea, per CNA. A surface of 3,300 square meters would be available inside the expo hall, while participants could also use an additional 100 square meters to show their wares outside. Vietnam Defense Minister Phan Van Giang had invited his counterparts from 35 countries to visit the show.
While Taipei maintains no official diplomatic relations with the Southeast Asian communist nation, trade and economic relations have flourished, while Taiwan has also welcomed workers from Vietnam.
However, as recently as earlier this month, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) protested against Vietnam allowing China to interfere with a meeting of the World Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce (WTCC) in Hanoi.
