TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Premier-designate Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) announced Friday (April 19) a fourth wave of Cabinet ministers, including heads of the health, labor, and environment ministries.
At a press conference Cho named the appointees to head five more ministries. The ministry posts include the chiefs of the Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Environment, Council of Indigenous Peoples, and Hakka Affairs Council.
Cho said that Cabinet Deputy Secretary-General Ho Pei-shan (何佩珊) of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has been appointed to serve as the head of the Ministry of Labor. Former DPP legislator and professor at National Taiwan University College of Medicine Chiu Tai-yuan (邱泰源) has been tapped as health minister.
Meteorologist, Peng Chi-ming (彭啟明), known for weather reports on his website WeatherRisk has been selected as the environment minister.
Head of the Tainan Hakka Affairs Commission, Ku Hsiu-fei (古秀妃), has been promoted to lead the Hakka Affairs Council. Tseng Chih-yung (曾智勇), director-general of the Indigenous Peoples Cultural Development Center, also saw his title upgraded to head of the Council of Indigenous Peoples.
