TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A Ukrainian delegation arrived in Taiwan on Monday (April 15) to garner support for the country’s reconstruction following Russia’s invasion in 2022.
According to a press release by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) on Tuesday (April 16), the delegation includes government officials, medical professionals, and workers from Ukraine’s Prozoroo e-procurement platform. It’s the largest reconstruction cooperation plan between Taiwan and Ukraine since Russia’s invasion.
TAITRA Chair Huang Chih-fang (黃志芳), who received the delegation, said that TAITRA is Taiwan’s platform for promoting foreign trade and will provide assistance for Ukraine's reconstruction and facilitate connections with Taiwan’s industries, per CNA.
Prozoroo Director Mykola Tkachenko said that he previously had little knowledge of Taiwan and its technology. “This time, I have the opportunity to make contact with Taiwan and learn about its products,” the director said.
On Tuesday, the delegation hosted a meeting with nearly 200 business professionals, informing them about Ukraine’s status and calling on Taiwanese businesses to assist in the country’s rebuilding efforts. During negotiations, Ukrainian businesses showed interest in Taiwan’s electric generators, medical equipment, and industrial cables.
The delegation plans to make trips to Taiwan’s major manufacturers in electronics, medical care, and more.
