TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – As United States President Joe Biden warned of a potential attack by Iran on Israel, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Saturday (April 13) advised people against traveling to the two Middle Eastern countries.
MOFA told its representative office in Israel to monitor developments and to keep in close contact with Taiwanese citizens residing in the country. The office would provide the necessary up-to-date information about developments and assist if needed.
Unless necessary, people should avoid traveling to Israel and Iran for the time being, according to MOFA. The ministry also advised business travelers currently in those countries to keep up their guard and remain aware of the latest developments.
MOFA provided hotline numbers for Taiwanese residents or travelers to call if they found themselves in an emergency. In Israel, they could call 972-544-275-204, while in Iran, they could either call the Taiwan Trade Center in Tehran at 98-21-8879-4243 or the Taiwan office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, at 971-50-6453018.
MOFA also had an emergency line in Taiwan for callers from overseas at 886-800-085-095.
