TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Video shows a pedestrian narrowly escaping serious injury or death when two trucks collided around him.
On Wednesday (April 10) morning, a cement truck was traveling on Zhongxiao Road in Taoyuan's Guanyin Industrial Park, when it was sideswiped by a speeding tanker truck, reported SET News. The front of the cement truck was knocked into a concrete wall, while the tanker truck overturned.
Afterward, surveillance footage revealed that a man was walking on the roadside at the time of the incident. He was frightened by the accident but miraculously managed to escape from a gap between the wall and the cement truck without any life-threatening injuries.
A 62-year-old man surnamed Chiu (邱) was reportedly driving the cement mixer truck when it was struck by a tanker truck loaded with milk driven by a 49-year-old man surnamed Chen (陳).
Both drivers sustained only minor injuries but were nevertheless checked at the hospital. There were no signs of DUI driving.
Subsequent surveillance footage revealed a man standing on the roadside at the scene of the accident. When the accident occurred, the man leaned against the wall, and both the cement truck and the tanker truck seemed to "swallow" him, as he disappeared from the screen.
Moments later the man could be seen emerging unharmed from the gap between the cement truck and the wall.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
