TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – A delegation from Paraguay will arrive in Taipei on Sunday (April 14) headed by President of the Senate Congress Silvio Ovelar.
During their stay in Taiwan, they are expected to hold talks with President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文), President-elect Lai Ching-te (賴清德), and Legislative Yuan Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜). Furthermore, Paraguay President Santiago Pena is expected to make an appearance at the presidential inauguration on May 20.
In a statement from Paraguay’s Ambassador to Taiwan Carlos Fleitas, he commented, “This visit will serve to commit even more the ties of brotherhood of more than 66 years between Taiwan and Paraguay, which are now solid and firm.”
The ambassador added that Pena had made numerous statements on behalf of Taiwan and had called for its incorporation into the international system of nations. Fleitas also mentioned the number of projects that were progressing well between the two nations.
