TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Kuomintang (KMT) Vice Chairman Andrew Hsia (夏立言) is set to depart for the U.S. on Thursday (April 4) to participate in a tabletop exercise organized by the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
KMT spokesperson Yang Chih-yu (楊智伃) said Hsia and Director of International Affairs Alexander C. Huang (黃介正) were invited to the U.S.-Japan-Taiwan Track 2 trilateral tabletop exercises, per CNA.
In addition to visiting CSIS, Hsia will meet with the overseas Taiwanese communities in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. Numerous U.S. government agencies and think tanks have also invited Hsia for talks.
Yang pointed that Hsia’s trip is the first since the 2024 presidential and legislative elections. The special invitation extended to Hsia indicated the friendly and stable relationship between the KMT and the U.S. since the establishment of the party’s representative office in Washington in 2022, Yang said.
During his visit, the vice chairman will convey the KMT's diplomatic policy of being pro-U.S., friendly toward Japan, and seeking peace with China.
Hsia will return to Taiwan on April 15.
