TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The self-service Blah Blah Bar opens in Taipei's Xinyi District on Friday (March 29).
It is the brainchild of restaurateur Henry Tseng (曾柏憲), who is founder of the Michelin-starred restaurant Longtail.
Located in the basement of the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A8 department store, the bar has a modern, industrial-chic design with outdoor seating for both groups and individuals.
The bar's self-service system is easy to use. Customers simply purchase a prepaid card and then use it to dispense drinks, which are priced by the milliliter.
The bar offers 16 draft drinks, including cocktails and beers. The selection includes classics like mojitos and margaritas, as well as more creative concoctions like “Goodnight Tokyo” and ”Mexican Fever."
Tseng told Taiwan News other venues are interested in the concept, and his next step is to expand to the Zhongshan District.
In addition to drinks, Blah Blah Bar offers a menu of snacks designed by Longtail’s head chef, Lam Ming Kin (林明健). The menu includes items such as burgers, fries, and chicken wings.
Blah Blah Bar is open from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. on weekdays and closes at 1 a.m. on weekends. Happy hours are 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
