TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – As Taiwan has become the world’s fifth-largest machine tool exporter, the government will continue to assist the sector, Premier Chen Chien-jen (陳建仁) said Wednesday (March 27).
He was speaking at the opening of the 2024 Taiwan International Machine Tool Show (TMTS) in Taipei City, per Radio Taiwan International (RTI). The country’s success went against international trends, while the government promoted smart national policies and innovation, helping the industry take advantage of supply chain changes, Chen said.
The world had witnessed Taiwan’s potential and resilience in terms of EVs and semiconductors., among other sectors. The country was not only No. 5 for exports, but had also reached the status of seventh-largest manufacturer of machinery equipment in the world, according to Chen.
The March 27-31 edition of TMTS expects 4,000 buyers from 47 countries. The exhibitors are paying special attention to digital technology and green energy, organizers said.
