Taipei (Taiwan News) — Taipei Connections, an online art fair, will be extending its run on the digital platform Ocula through Sunday (May 10).
Taipei Dangdai announced on its website that Taipei Connections, originally scheduled to run from May 2 to 5, will be extended through May 10, due to strong audience interest in participating in the live-streaming programs.
The organizers have invited more international artists, collectors, and galleries to curate podcast programs. Most of the upcoming sessions will be centered on how the art world is coping with the Wuhan coronavirus, according to the website.
The panel discussion entitled "Collecting Art in Challenging Times" will feature a conversation between two collectors based in Europe and Asia and the owner of the Sabrina Amrani Gallery on May 7. They will discuss in depth some of the approaches collectors are employing during the pandemic.
A moderated talk with contemporary artist Ai Weiwei (艾未未) will be kicked off on Thursday (May 7) by Dr. Christina Yu Yu, Chair of Asian Art at the MFA Boston, and Dr. John Tancock, the author of several books on Ai Weiwei. The experts will discuss the importance of artistic works centered on human rights and refugees during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Taipei Dangdai.

The annual Taipei Dangdai is launching its next art exhibition, "Taipei Connections," on the digital platform Ocula, Saturday (May 2).
Hosted by UBS, this second edition of the art fair, which in January attracted 40,000 visitors at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, features 99 prestigious galleries from around the globe. To publicize the fair, a large-scale art installation by Michael Lin was displayed on the side of Taipei 101.
For its latest undertaking, Taipei Dangdai is gathering international artists, collectors, and galleries online due to the coronavirus pandemic. Previously exhibited galleries will return, and the organizers have revealed there will be highlighted works from contemporary American artists Doug Aitken, Alex Katz, and Al Held.
Additionally, the digital platform will include live stream programs, such as a visit to Taiwanese artist Wu Chi-tsung's (吳季璁) studio and a virtual tour of Austrian artist Erwin Wurm's show at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. Taipei Dangdai co-directors Magnus Renfrew (任天晉) and Robin Peckham (岳鴻飛) will host the online showroom tour.
Advance registration is required for the free online art fair running May 2-5, while the VIP preview is April 30. For more information, please visit the website or Facebook page.
