TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Renowned American cellist Yo-Yo Ma (馬友友) will channel Bach in the Taiwanese capital when he performs the Baroque master's Six Cello Suites this spring for one night only.
Part of a 36-city world tour that began in August 2018, the performance will take place March 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Songshan District's Taipei Arena, a venue recently graced by the likes of Madonna, Celine Dion, and Linkin Park, reported CNA.
Yo-Yo Ma: The Bach Project will see the UN messenger of peace play Bach's six suites for unaccompanied cello, according to the Management of New Arts (MNA), which organized the event. The concert will last two and a half hours without intermission.
Tickets are available on the MNA website and range between NT$1,500 (US$49.89) and NT$4,200.
Ma last took up the bow in Taiwan in October 2018 alongside his Silk Road Ensemble, a musical collective whose members hail from countries lying along the historic Silk Road trade route that once connected Europe and Asia.
