TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan is one of the top tourist destinations among Asian travelers during the Lunar New Year period, according to a report by the accommodation booking firm Agoda.
Taiwanese cities took three out the top 10 travel destinations for accommodation booked over next two weeks through Agoda. Taipei took the number three spot across the Asia-Pacific region, with Kaohsiung moving up to No. five, and Taichung not far behind at No. seven.
The two cities beating out Taipei for the first and second place spots were Bangkok, Thailand, and Tokyo, Japan. Taiwan, along with Thailand, and Japan are the three countries benefiting the most from Lunar New Year travelers, according to the press release.
Agoda’s top ten list for 2019 and the previous two years can be seen below.
For Taiwanese travelers, the top destination for the Lunar New Year in 2019 was Kaohsiung, with Taichung runner-up. Bookings in Taipei were third, with Tokyo, Japan ranking fourth as the top international destination for Taiwanese travelers.
Tokyo and Okinawa were the only international destinations that made the top 10 list for Taiwanese LNY holiday travelers in 2019.
Agoda also offers some reasons on why Taiwan is so attractive, even suggesting Taiwan as a great destination for the solo traveler in the Press Release.
