Sweden mulls special supervision for nuclear plant

Sweden's nuclear watchdog says it may put one of three Swedish nuclear power plants under special supervision after two serious incidents over the past year.
The first incident at the Ringhals power station occurred late last year when an automatic safety system failed to switch on. The second earlier this year involved faulty control rods designed to regulate reactor activity.
Mattias Skold of the Swedish Radiation Authority says both incidents were considered "extremely serious." He says the authority is expected to decide Wednesday whether to put Ringhals under special supervision.
The power plant in western Sweden has four reactors that produce one-fifth of Sweden's electricity. It is controlled by energy companies Vattenfall and E.ON.
