Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

A low pressure system will linger over the Sea of Japan on Thursday and continue bringing unsettled weather to eastern Asia.
Small atmospheric disturbances will move through this system and trigger widespread scattered showers over the Korean peninsula and northern Japan.
Meanwhile, flow around the system will create a strong frontal boundary that will extend from southern Japan, stretch over the East China Sea, and reach into southeastern China.
This front will kick up scattered showers over the southern shore of Japan as it pushes into the Pacific, while moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms will develop in China from Changsha to Hong Kong, remaining south of Shanghai.
Tokyo will see light rain on Thursday with highs in the lower 20s Celsius, with severe weather anticipated in Hong Kong and highs in the lower 30s C.
In the north, mild weather is expected as higher pressure hovers over the region. Beijing will see mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid-30s C, while Shanghai will see scattered clouds with highs in the upper 20s C.
In Australia, high pressure will build into the Great Australian Bight as low pressure moves eastward into New South Whales on Thursday.
This system will trigger moderate rainfall over Victoria and New South Whales. Sydney will see increasing clouds throughout the day with sprinkles by evening and highs remaining in the upper teens C.
The rest of the country will see warm and dry conditions, with the exception of the northwest where a front is expected to push scattered showers onshore.
