Sudan postpones elections to April 2010

Sudan has postponed the country's first national elections in two decades by two months to April 2010, citing technical issues.
It is the second time the country has postponed the elections, which are a key requirement in the 2005 peace deal that ended more than two decades of civil war between the north and south.
The country's election commission said Tuesday that the delay is due to technical issues, including the rainy season and the delayed results of the population census.
The elections were originally scheduled to take place in July 2009, but were delayed a first time to February 2010 earlier this year.
