UPS and Ford extend logistics contract

UPS Inc., the world's largest shipping carrier, said Tuesday it has extended a contract to deliver new Ford Motor Co. vehicles from assembly plants to dealerships in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
Atlanta-based UPS said it has been working with Ford since 2000, to help it lower logistics costs.
UPS provides onsite operations management at Ford distribution points, transportation network oversight and other services as part of its contract with the Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker.
Ford, whose brands include Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Volvo, is the only one of the Big Three U.S. automakers that has not filed for bankruptcy protection in recent months amid the downturn in the U.S. economy.
