Coroner: 2 British hostages in Iraq were shot

An English coroner says two British men who were taken hostage in Iraq two years ago and ultimately killed suffered gunshot wounds.
The Wiltshire coroner's office says in a statement it plans a formal inquest next month into the killings of Jason Swindlehurst, 38, and Jason Creswell, 39, whose bodies were returned to England last week. But coroner staff say they are already confident that both men suffered multiple gunshot wounds that almost certainly caused their deaths.
Tuesday's statement offered the first evidence of how the two men died. Both were working for Canadian security firm GardaWorld when they and three other Britons were kidnapped outside the Finance Ministry in Baghdad in May 2007. The other three hostages remain missing.
