Euro-zone sees falling prices in June

The European Union says countries using the euro saw consumer prices fall 0.1 percent in the year to June, the first negative inflation rate in at least a decade.
In recent months, plunging energy and food prices have rapidly calmed inflation from record highs last summer as an economic recession brakes demand from companies and households.
Inflation had stagnated at 0.0 percent in May and has not been negative since the euro single currency was launched in 1999 or since Eurostat started collecting yearly figures in 1997.
