Ecuador judge seeks Colombia ex-official's arrest

An Ecuadorean judge has issued an arrest order for a former Colombian defense minister in connection with a cross-border raid on a guerrilla camp in Ecuador's jungle.
Ecuadorean state attorney Carlos Jimenez says Juan Manuel Santos is under investigation for allegedly directing the raid, which killed a senior leader of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and 24 others.
Ecuador and Colombia severed diplomatic ties following the March 2008 raid.
Santos' lawyer in Ecuador says there is no evidence he oversaw the operation. He faces possible homicide charges.
The former defense minister, who lives in Colombia, resigned last month in preparation for a possible presidential run if Alvaro Uribe does not seek another term.
