Ousted Honduran president invited to address UN

The General Assembly president is urging the 192-member world body to consider ways to peacefully restore Honduras' ousted president to power.
Miguel D'Escoto Brockmann said he has invited Manuel Zelaya, who was flown into exile in Costa Rica after a military coup on Sunday morning, to come to New York and report directly to members of the General Assembly on the situation in his country.
D'Escoto told a special session of the assembly on Monday that Zelaya's ouster was an "outrageous attack on Honduran democracy" and the General Assembly should condemn it.
Honduras' newly appointed leader vowed Monday to resist pressure from across the Americas to reinstate the president.
