Afghan official says 41 security guards in custody

The governor of Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province says 41 private security guards involved in a deadly shootout at the district attorney's office are under arrest.
Gov. Thoryalai Wesa says the guards have been disarmed and will be sent to Kabul for a military trial.
Earlier, President Hamid Karzai demanded that the U.S. hand over the guards, whom he said were employed by American-led coalition forces. Karzai said the guards had stormed the district attorney's office and killed five people, including Kandahar's provincial police chief.
U.S. military officials say that no U.S. forces were involved in the incident. A U.S. statement called it an "Afghan-on-Afghan" incident.
