Zellous leads Shock over Monarchs

Shavonte Zellous scored 18 points to lead the Detroit Shock to an 86-72 victory over the Sacramento Monarchs on Sunday, giving Rick Mahorn his first win as a head coach.
Deanna Nolan had 14 points as the Shock snapped a four-game losing streak. Mahorn had lost three since replacing Bill Laimbeer on June 15.
Rebekkah Brunson scored 16 points for Sacramento (1-7), which lost its fifth straight.
Detroit took control by outscoring the Monarchs 23-11 in the second quarter to take a 47-28 halftime lead.
Sparks 82, Storm 55
At Los Angeles, Marie Ferdinand-Harris scored a season-high 15 points to lift short-handed Los Angeles past Seattle.
Lauren Jackson was held to nine points on 3-of-10 shooting for Seattle, which didn't have a player in double figures.
Playing their third game without injured three-time league MVP Lisa Leslie, five players scored in double-figure for the Sparks (3-5). Betty Lennox had 14 points, Vanessa Hayden scored 12, DeLisha Milton-Jones 11 and Noelle Quinn 10 for the Sparks.
Los Angeles is also still without Candace Parker, who is recovering after giving birth last month.
