Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

Typhoon Kujira is expected to decrease in intensity and continue on its northeastward track south of Japan on Thursday. The storm will decrease to tropical storm strength.
Kujira is not anticipated to make landfall, but it will continue pushing moist conditions over southern Japan and spread scattered showers over the region. Tokyo will see wet weather with cloudy skies.
Tropical Storm Chan-Hom is expected to strengthen as it moves northeastward of the warm waters near the Philippines. By Thursday, expect winds from 74 to 95 mph (119 to 152 kph) and heavy downpours over the South China Sea. The storm is expected to hit the Lingayen Gulf in the northern Philippines on Friday.
High pressure will build over the East China Sea and bring warm and dry conditions to eastern China, the Korean Peninsula. Shanghai and Hong Kong will see mostly sunny skies, while Beijing will be hot and dry. Central China will have rain.
Much of Australia will continue to have warm and dry conditions, although Sydney will see wet weather. New Zealand will have moderate to heavy showers.
