4 dead as floods and landslides hit Martinique

Torrential rains on the Caribbean island of Martinique have flooded towns and touched off landslides. Four people are reported dead.
An estimated 300 millimeters (12 inches) of rain fell in some areas in just a few hours beginning Monday night. About 80 percent of the island's schools were closed. Some 20,000 households lost power, but only about 2,000 clients remain without lights.
Martinique's appointed leader, Ange Mancini, says emergency crews are helping people affected and the situation is slowly improving.
The island is still recovering from a monthlong strike that paralyzed the economy earlier this year.
