Lyon suspends Brazilian midfielder Fabio Santos

Defending French champion Lyon has indefinitely suspended Fabio Santos, following the Brazilian midfielder's altercation with coach Claude Puel during Saturday's loss to Valenciennes.
Puel and Santos reportedly had to be separated by Brazilian defender Cris in the dressing room before they came to blows on Saturday, with Lyon trailing 2-0 at half time.
"Lyon confirms it has taken disciplinary action against Fabio Santos," the club said in a statement on its Web site Tuesday. "(Santos) will not be part of the squad until a (further) decision has been taken with regards to him."
Santos, who has a year left on his contract, has played only 22 league games for Lyon since joining two years ago, and spent half of last season on loan to Brazilian club Sao Paulo.
Lyon looks set to miss out on the French league title for the first time in eight years. With four matches remaining, Lyon is in third place with 61 points and is seven points behind leader Marseille.
