Al Shabab beat 10-man Foolad Sepahan of Iran 2-1 on Tuesday to stay in contention for a spot in the second round of the Asian Champions League.
The host took an early lead when Musawengosi Mguni outpaced the defense and shot past Iranian goalkeeper Rahman Ahmadi in the second minute.
The Zimbabwean player also set up the next goal for Salem Saad in the 52nd.
Sepahan had Ibrahim Lovinian sent off for a second booking in the 38th minute. But the visitors pulled one back through Emad Mohammed Redha, who collected a through pass in the 71st before scoring from close range.
The visitors kept attacking, but Al Shabab goalie Ismail Rabea made several saves to prevent an equalizer.
Al Shabab has six points in Group D to trail leader Al Ettifaq by six. Sepahan has four points.
