Saudi Electric: $22B for electricity

The Saudi Electricity Company has allotted 84 billion riyals ($22 billion) for various projects in the kingdom to meet its increased energy demand.
CEO Ali bin Saleh al-Barak says his company has seen a 3 percent jump in membership since last year, from 9 percent to 12 percent.
He told reporters Tuesday the company is finding it a challenge to meet Saudi's growing demand for electricity.
Saudi Arabia has been seeing major expansion focusing on refinery plants and industrial cities which rely heavily on energy generation.
Al-Barak says that by the end of 2009, there will be an electricity network connecting almost 95 percent of consumers in the country.
