Van Wyk smashes 74 as Kolkata makes 154 in IPL

Morne van Wyk hit 74 runs as the Kolkata Knight Riders reached 154-3 against the Delhi Daredevils on Tuesday in the Indian Premier League.
South Africa's Van Wyk smashed 11 boundaries, putting on 58 runs for the first wicket with captain Brendon McCullum, who made 35 runs from 29 balls.
Delhi's medium pacer Pradeep Sangwan took 2-29 from his four overs while opening bowler Ashish Nehra varied his pace to end up with an economical 1-23 from four overs.
Van Wyk and McCullum took the attack to Delhi early on, particularly targeting opening bowler Dirk Nannes, who cost 49 runs without a wicket. Van Wyk and McCullum picked the length superbly and punished anything short and wide.
McCullum, who looked to have found his form after a disappointing start to the tournament, was dismissed in the seventh over, top-edging Sangwan to Nehra in the deep.
Van Wyk then dominated a second wicket stand with Brad Hodge, who scored 10 runs before giving his wicket away cheaply, hitting straight to AB de Villiers at long on off a wide Sangwan delivery.
Australian Moises Henriques then joined Van Wyk and kept the pressure on the Delhi attack.
Van Wyk succumbed to a full length Nehra delivery in the final over to be clean bowled, while Henriques finished unbeaten on 30.
