Kolkata Knight Riders captain Brendon McCullum won the toss and opted to bat first against the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday.
"It looks like a good wicket," McCullum said. "If we can get a solid start and then attack in the middle we can get a good score."
Kolkata, who have lost Chris Gayle to international duty for the West Indies, are desperate for a win after a run of defeats.
Delhi are still missing Virender Sehwag to injury. Gautam Gambhir is standing in for a second match.
