Queen Elizabeth II to mark Kew Gardens anniversary

Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip are to visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew to mark the 250th anniversary of its founding.
They will tour the World Heritage Site and see exhibits about the Millennium Seed Bank, where seeds from many of the world's plants species are being stored. They also plan to meet with students.
The royal visit Tuesday comes as landscape architects are preparing a masterplan for improving the famous gardens and its embankment on the River Thames.
The queen and her husband plan to plant trees at Kew, southwest London, to mark their visit.
They also planted trees there 50 years ago when they made an official visit to mark the 200th anniversary of the horticultural landmark.
