Pohang advances with 3-2 win over Central Coast

Brazilian striker Denilson scored a hat trick to lead the Pohang Steelers to a 3-2 win over Australia's Central Coast Mariners and into the second round of the Asian Champions League.
Central Coast needed a win to keep alive its hopes of advancing to the last 16. The Australian team was ahead with 20 minutes remaining, but Denilson scored two late goals to eliminate the Mariners.
South Korea's Pohang moved into unassailable second place with nine points from five matches in Group H, one point behind Japan's Kawasake Frontale which has played four. Tianjin Teda of China is on two points after four matches, with Central Coast.
Pohang opened the scoring after just seven minutes as Denilson converted a penalty awarded when Central Coast defender Pedj Bojic chopped down Ryu Chang-hyun in the area.
Central Coast equalized seven minutes after the break when Pohang defender Kim Hyung-il allowed a long pass to run onto his goalkeeper, but Adam Kwasnik swooped in to score.
The Mariners took the lead four minutes later when a floated free-kick from Kwasnik was allowed to make its way into the far corner of the net.
Denilson fired home a low shot in the 70th minute to draw Pohang level, and then headed home the winner from close rang ethree minutes from time.
