Higgins beats Murphy to win world snooker title

John Higgins won the snooker World Championship for the third time on Monday when he outplayed 2005 champion Shaun Murphy 18-9 in the final.
Winner in 1998 and two years ago, the 33-year-old Scot repeatedly punished Murphy's mistakes and the Englishman, who trailed 11-5 overnight, never got close to making a strong challenge on day two of the best-of-35 frame final.
