Former Lebanese president Gemayel hospitalized

Lebanon's official news agency says former Lebanese President Amin Gemayel has been admitted to the hospital after falling ill.
Monday's report did not disclose Gemayel's illness but said it required him to be hospitalized.
During his 1982-88 term in office, Gemayel negotiated a peace agreement with Israel that he later refused to sign as Lebanon descended into one of the worst rounds of the 1975-90 civil war.
Gemayel, 67, now leads the right-wing Christian Phalange party, which is part of an anti-Syrian parliamentary majority coalition. The coalition is contesting crucial legislative elections next month against a minority faction led by the Syrian-backed Shiite militant group Hezbollah.
