Getafe hires Michel a coach to replace Munoz

Getafe hired former Real Madrid player Jose Miguel "Michel" Gonzalez as coach on Monday, hours after firing Victor Munoz.
Michel, who was director of Madrid's youth academy until quitting in December, will take charge for the final five games of the season with Getafe perilously placed 17th in the 20-team league, just one point above the relegation zone. Michel's first match will be against Mallorca on Sunday.
The 46-year-old Michel had a successful playing career at the Santiago Bernabeu between 1984-96, winning six league titles and two UEFA Cups. He coached Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid's B-team.
Munoz was dismissed earlier on Monday, one day after the Madrid club lost to Villarreal 2-1 for its third loss in a row and seventh in nine games.
"I told them one more match would have cleared up the situation, but...they decided to dismiss me," Munoz said.
The 52-year-old Munoz, who previously led Recreativo Huelva, Zaragoza and Greek club Panathinaikos, replaced Michael Laudrup last year. He is the 10th Spanish league coach to be fired this season.
