Albania mayor convicted over non-Greek road signs

An Albanian court has sentenced an ethnic Greek mayor to six months imprisonment for removing road signs because they were not written in Greek.
Court officials say Vasillaq Bollano was also fined 500,000 leks ($5,125) and banned from holding public office for three years.
Bollano is mayor of Himara, a town in southern Albania, in an area home to the country's ethnic Greek minority.
Bollano told The Associated Press he will appeal the verdict and if necessary take the case to the Council of Europe's Court of Human Rights.
It is not immediately clear when Tuesday's sentence for abuse of power would be carried out.
Relations between neighbors Greece and Albania have been strained over minority rights.
