Kevin Correia struck out five batters in four scoreless innings Wednesday as the San Diego Padres beat South Korea's World Baseball Classic squad.
Correia, a non-roster invitee who was 3-8 with a 6.05 ERA for the San Francisco Giants in 2008, allowed one hit and walked one against South Korea, which won Group A in the WBC to advance to the second round in San Diego.
The Padres scored three runs off starter Kim Kwang-Hyun, who was the Korea Baseball Organizations most valuable player in 2008.
Brian Giles drove in one of those runs and finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Chase Headley was 2-for-4 with four RBIs for San Diego.
