India says US-Indian relationship transformed

India's foreign secretary says his country is working to lay groundwork for U.S. companies to enter India's nuclear market in the aftermath of last year's landmark U.S.-Indian civilian nuclear deal.
Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon told reporters Wednesday that the deal has transformed a once shaky relationship and allows officials to move to a "new level" of cooperation.
He met with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and other top officials and lawmakers during his three-day trip to Washington.
He says the two countries are working to expand cooperation in clean energy, agriculture and other areas.
He says Prime Minister Manmohan Singh hopes to meet with President Barack Obama at April world economic meetings in London.
