Missing pilot's family frustrated with Pentagon

The family of a Florida fighter pilot lost in the Persian Gulf War is criticizing Navy Secretary Donald Winter over his reluctant decision to keep the pilot listed as missing in action.
Winter decided Tuesday against declaring Navy Capt. Michael "Scott" Speicher killed. But the secretary cited "compelling" evidence that Speicher is dead and suggested the Navy could close the case within a year.
Buddy Harris, who has since married Speicher's ex-wife, says the family was pleased with the decision to keep the pilot listed as missing in action. But he says Winter's assessment about his former friend is overly pessimistic.
Harris says the Pentagon is ignoring evidence Speicher could have survived when his plane was shot down over Iraq in 1991.
