National Symphony will tour China, South Korea

The U.S. National Symphony Orchestra will tour China and South Korea in June with performances in cities including Macau, Beijing, Shanghai and Seoul.
The tour announced Wednesday will mark the orchestra's return to China after its first tour a decade ago at the invitation of then-Chinese President Jiang Zemin. The excursion also marks the 50th anniversary of the national symphony's first international tour of 19 countries in Latin America in 1959.
Principal Conductor Ivan Fischer will lead the orchestra and guest violinist Leonidas Kavakos in six concerts. Violinist Hyun-Su Shin will join the orchestra as a soloist in Goyang, South Korea.
