Red Bulls sign midfielder Alberto Celades

Spanish midfielder Alberto Celades signed with the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday after stints with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The team did not disclose terms of the deal, which is pending until Celades gets a visa.
"He is a very talented player," sporting director Jeff Agoos said in a statement. "And, with the experience that he brings, we are optimistic about his contribution to the club."
The 33-year-old Celades began his career with Barcelona, appearing in 72 games over four seasons. He helped it win two La Liga and Spanish Cup titles and the 1997 UEFA SuperCup.
After joining Celta Vigo, he made 56 appearances over five seasons with Real Madrid, playing a role in winning two La Liga titles and the Champions League in 2002. Following a one-year loan to FC Girondins de Bordeaux, Celades spent three seasons with Real Zaragoza in Spain.
Celades has made four appearances for Spain, and was a substitute in two matches during the 1998 World Cup.
The Red Bulls open their season March 19 against the expansion Seattle Sounders.
