Dutch begin removing wreckage of Turkish airliner

Dutch officials have removed part of the wreckage of a Turkish Airlines jetliner that crashed last month into a muddy field three kilometers (two miles) from Amsterdam's Schiphol airport, killing nine people.
The aircraft split into three pieces on impact, but did not catch fire, and 126 people survived. The pilots were among the five Turks and four Americans killed on Feb. 25.
Two cranes inserted steel beams through the cockpit windows Wednesday and lifted the plane's front section onto vehicles to be taken to a nearby hangar. Firefighting trucks were on alert nearby since fuel remained in the airplane's tanks.
In preliminary findings Dutch investigators say a false reading from a faulty altimeter contributed to the crash.
