Travelers to U.S. face double checks

Beginning at 9:30 p.m. yesterday, travelers heading for the United States have to pass two security checks, and take off their shoes and coats, the Civil Aeronautics Administration announced yesterday.
Travelers' electronic equipment is also subject to special checks at the request of the U.S. transportation safety authorities, the CAA said. The changes fit in the U.S. campaign against terrorism.
The second round of checks takes place as passengers enter the main waiting room at the airport, demanding more time from travelers.
