Official: Spanish judge says US work above board

A Spanish court official says a prominent judge denies wrongdoing by getting paid by a US university while drawing his salary in Madrid.
The National Court official says Judge Baltasar Garzon insists he acted in good faith and reported his income to tax authorities in both countries.
Garzon is best known for indicting former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet in 1998 on terrorism charges and Osama bin Laden in 2003 over the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
A judicial oversight board is investigating Garzon for allegedly failing to warn superiors of payments for teaching at New York University while on sabbatical in 2005 and 2006.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity, in line with court rules. Garzon was traveling overseas and unavailable for comment.
